Ted's Montana Grill

The burger challenge continued with a visit to Ted's Montanta Grill. This a higher end burger place, with an added twist of having Bison burgers.

PrimeTime, T-Bone and I all had the Bison variety of the following burgers.

Me - The Kitchen Sink - American Cheese, ham, bacon, mushrooms, grilled onions and a runny fried egg. This was the best burger I have had so far and scored a 4.5 but it then lost .25 of a point for cost at $18.

PT - The Red Rock jalapeño peppers, pepper jack cheese, onions straws and z sauce. Same score, same reasons, still behind 5 guys. Cost $16.

TB - George's Cadillac- Cheddar cheese, smoky bacon and BBQ sauce. Same score same reasons. Cost $15.

Overall great food but a little pricy for burgers.

Two Hands

I tried a very interesting wine tonight from Two Hands. It was a 2008 Moscato called Brilliant Disguise. It was light, fruity and with a little fizz. It was infinitely drinkable at only 7% APV. It great summer wine, but it was only in a 500 ml bottle, so a couple of bottles will be needed. The price was $16.49 but that was maybe a year ago.

U2

Went to the U2 concert last night. It was awesome. The stage was huge, the music great and the weather perfect. The concert had a good mix of old and new songs. The Linc was also a good place to see a concert.

I just hope I get to go back soon and watch some football.

Far From Home Cafe

PrimeTime, T-Bone and I continued our burger adventure yesterday, as well as started the much anticipated "Street Meat Summer 2011".

We went to Love Park and tried Far From Home Cafe. I had the Mighty Big burger, and the Mac and cheese empanadas, PT and TB had the Mighty Jerk burger, with PT also trying the Mexico City empanada.

The Mighty Big Burger had two patties, two slices of cheese, tomato, fried onions, lettuce, pickles and mighty sauce. The Mighty Jerk Burger had jerk spices, provolone, tomato, lettuce, pickles, onions and caribbean ranch mayo. The mighty sauce was great and rivaled that of 500 degrees. The bun was solid and kept the burg together very well. The flavors were excellent and you could pick the individual ingredients. The patties were cooked on the well side, and remained hot to warm throughout eating. The cheese was slightly disappointing.

Overall this was an excellent burger. We all rated the burgers 4*. For me it was slightly below 5 Guys. The service was excellent, very friendly, and farily quick.

Integrity 2

As a follow up to my previous post of June 21.

I was reading the recent edition of Sports Illustrated magazine where they were catching up with various people in the "where are they now issue". It has great articles on Yogi Berra, the actors from Major League and others. The one that caught my attention was on Sir Roger Bannister, the first person to run a sub 4 minute mile. The SI article quotes from his book, "Four Minute Mile" and says "the Greek ideal was that sport should be a preparation for life in general".

If it is golf, softball or little league the game should be played hard, but always fair, always to the rules, and always with good sportsmanship. It seems what you see on the playing fields is a reflection of the person.

Happy July 4th

Take a look around your neighborhoods and count the number of US flags. I'm surprised there isn't more. If you have one put out, if you don't have one buy one for next time.
