Integrity

I remember when I was first starting my career and was invited to play golf I was told that that you can tell at lot about the people you are playing with by how they conduct themselves on the golf course. If the game is to be played by all the rules scores kept, one team wins and other losses, money may change hands or drinks purchased, some people may bend the rules to win at all costs. It is probably how they would contact business too when things get a little tough. Corners are cut, rules ignored, maybe even new rules are invented.

After tonight I now know that it applies to company softball too. If it means that much to you that you have to cheat, invent new rules and knock over players that are old enough to be your parents, and then don't help them up (don't even check if he is ok), then I'm probably not too eager to do business with you. At the very least I should check that I have my wallet and watch after any meetings with these folks.

Maybe I'm getting old, but there is a way to play, win or lose, but that is not what happened tonight.
